National Small Business Week kicks off the first week of May, and it’s a great way to get involved in your community. Why would you want to do this as an independent insurance agent? Because you may be a small business yourself!
Since 1963, the Small Business Association takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from across the nation through National Small Business Week. The power of small businesses is hard to miss. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. Definitely something to celebrate! But you don’t have to keep your celebration to one week. Here are a few ways you can show your appreciation to local small businesses:
- If you are a small business yourself, share your story!
- Highlight your small business insurance customers. Show your support for the small businesses that support you! Share their contributions to your local community.
- Host a small business challenge. See how many local stores, restaurants, vendors you can visit and make purchases from during the week. Share on social media.
- Celebrate your small business employees. if you are a small local agent, thank your employees and feature them on social media.
- Host a small business appreciation event. Invite local small businesses to your offices for treats and networking.
- Join a chamber of commerce and attend their events. What better way to get involved with your community than joining the chamber of commerce? See if you can host an event educating small business owners on basic insurance needs.
- Do a local business feature in office. Showcase a product from a local business in your office and feature it on social media. Host a giveaway for gift certificates or coupons.
- Ask fans to share their favorite small business. Post on social media asking your fans to tag their favorite small business. It’s a great way to get your online community involved!
