Facebook is taking away your fans and it's a good thing.

"No, don't hurt my baby!" That's exactly my thought when I clicked on Social Media Today's article on how Facebook's crackdown could hurt your business page. We're already getting docked in the News Feed because we're Pages and not Friends and now you want to take our fans? The 2016 election brought to light how different accounts were misusing the platform for their benefit. Between fake news , groups sharing propaganda disguised as true facts and false accounts luring you to like and engage on pages, Facebook has had it with those abusing the platform. So what's next? Similar to the Facebook Purge of March 2015 (try explaining that to 25 small businesses that trusted you to grow their fan base 😣), Facebook is using improved detection and suspending suspicious accounts. That means thousands of accounts are being removed from Facebook, and some may even follow your page. Thousands. Gone. It's a good thing. I promise! Facebook ...

Is Social Advertising Effective? See what Marketers Think

Recent surveys of B2B and B2C marketers show content marketing is at the top of the list of the most effective tactics. Not insignificant.  LinkedIn ads were most effective for B2B, followed by Twitter ads.  Marketers also rank content marketing as the mo...

Tips for Facebook News Feed Visibility

You post something on your agency’s Facebook page. Does it show up in your followers’ news feed? It’s hard to say, thanks to Facebook’s complicated and ever-changing method for determining who sees what and when.  For an insurance agency running a Facebook page, this means you need to be very clear about what your followers (people who liked your page) want to see, and provide that content in the right ways. Marketing Land published a review of Facebook’s news feed changes over the past few years, and we’ve summed it up for you. Tips for Facebook News Feed Visibility  Make it meaningful. The more someone is interested in your content and interacts with it with a click, like, share or comment, the more they will see your future content. Things you’ve posted in the past could impact how visible your content is in the future.  Don’t post overly promotional content. If you’re directly selling something, your post will be less likely to show up. Facebook wants you to ...

Put Your Best FACE Forward: Facing Your Customers

Ask yourself this, "when is the last time I saw client X?" Now imagine someone asking client X, "when is the last time you saw your agent?" The answer is probably the same, "I can't remember." As much as we'd like to meet face to face with every client we work with or hope to represent, it just isn't always possible. However, just because it isn't possible to meet in person, there is no reason why your clients shouldn't feel like they just saw you. In today's business world marketing options are plentiful, but none may be more effective than simply marketing your face. During one of my very first sales calls, I met with an ex-captive agent who worked for a large insurance company. We discussed one of the company's studies which compared two separate captive agencies. One of the agents used a traditional business card and the other had all the same traditional information, but included ...
